The development of the learning/curriculum standards were based on the Sustainable Development Goals, situational analysis and they are interconnected and they capture the following core curriculum skills and values such as:
• Cognitive skills (critical and creative thinking);
• Reasoning, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
• High level thinking skills (analysis, evaluation and synthesis);
• 21st century skills;
• STEAM principles and skills;
• Spiritual values and virtues;
• Reading, writing and communication skills, and
• Essential values and attitudes.

All standards are linked to and intertwined with the ultimate aim of SBE and SBC, operational aims and goals, overarching curriculum principles, and SBC principles.
