PLANNING AND PROGRAMMING A STEM LESSON, PROJECT OR ACTIVITY

Inspiration in every STEM Challenges

STEM Activity

  • Select a lesson/activity/project from one of the syllabus.

  • Propose a project (or problem) upon which the learning of STEM concepts and the development of 21st century skills could be based, and which is aligned to the intentions of the curriculum.

  • Explain what your role as a teacher would be in supporting students as they engaged in the project or problem-based activity.

USING A RUBRIC TO EVALUATE THE BOAT CHALLENGE

Based on the given Boat challenge, each group in each sector were required to develop a STEM lesson plan for the boat challenge/activity or project and present it.

Each group were evaluated based on the rubric shown below. A copy of the rubric was given to each group prior to the construction of the boat so that they know what areas they will be assessed on apart from their presentation.

A head teacher in each zone was selected to evaluate other zone’s work using the given rubric. Results of the evaluation done by each head teacher per zone is shown below.
